3.0 Question

Hey,
Just wondering if anybody makes a kit to get rid of the oil cooler on the side of the block on a 3.0. I have seen some pictures on some other threads with the oil cooler eliminated and was just wondering how they did it.

I would imagine a filter relocation kit would do it, but otherwise, why would you want to?

Because I am doing a rebuild on my 3.0 and I am having a hard time getting this one clean so I wanted to get rid of it.

on the older 3vze's they put a cap over that port, so go to a scrap yard and get a cap and the banjo bolt in the middle of it. id get a new seal for it too.

personalty, i would try to clean out my old oil cooler because it does serve a purpose and keeps the oil cool. my friend did the same thing and he had the coolent side clogged on his oil cooler he pust dumped some solvent in there for 5 min than rinsed it out.

Keep it, it is on there for a reason, not because Toyota felt like throwing money at an oil cooler that was not required.

I have an '89 3.0 and it did not come with the cooler. There is a big aluminum cap bolted in that spot. I should have bought the water pump that supports the cooler when I did my rebuild and put a boneyard cooler on there when I had the motor out. Now I have a cooler and a water pump, just need to get up the will power to pull the timing belt and intall the cooler.
