3.0 maybe not so bad?
ok i want make a quick post about the 3vze and thank everyone for the help while i went thru the part rebuilding prossess, ive got about 400+miles on my 3.0 after replacing the heads and the truck runs like a dream i couldnt pull a hill in anything but 1st or 2nd gear before and i live in northern West Virginia so theres hills everywhere, and now im getting about 18 to 20mpg and flying up hills in 4th gear hope i can get another 50,000+miles out of this motor knock on wood. thanks again.
this is what i found on #3 and #5 cylinder and #6 had zero compression.

Holy burnt valves batman, that is terrible. Did the motor ever get a valve adjustment? Does not look like it.
Glad you got here back on the road and that she is performing a lot better. Put some bigger tires on, she will slow right down for you...

Yeah I remember when I got my lift and decided to go with 35s with 15x12 wheels.. everyone was telling me my truck wouldn't be able to turn them with stock gears, that i would not have a 5th gear anymore. 10 years later and my truck is still running strong. I just had a valve adjustment and the timing belt done at 199,000 miles and I'm back at doing 75mph on the highway .. I was still doing good before the timing jumped at around 60-68mph highway speed
