3.0 cooling issue

Hi everyone. So I just did the water pump timing belt and thermostat on my truck and I noticed something this morning after driving it my lower hose and the lower part of my radiator are not geting hot just Luke warm to the Touch. Truck runs fine does not get hot i've burped it Gage stays about quarter mark but after I shut it off it goes to about the halfway mark. Is this something I should be worried about

I believe the flow goes from the bottom of the rad to the block through the thermostat so it would take quite a while for that hose to get warm.

Is the top hose and aluminum fitting on the block getting hot?
That's what I usually check with an IR temp gun.

Did you turn the heater to full hot when burping the air? Does your heater get hot? The temp rising when you shut the engine off is the residual heat rising because the water pump is no longer running. If it's more than before then the coolant/water mix isn't correct OR you have a hot spot in the engine that isn't getting sufficient coolant flow OR you have a head gasket leak.

Yes the heater was on and had the truck at a incline. There is good heat coming from vents
