1. Where did you take your rig? Las Cruces, NM, Las Cruces Toyota
2. What did they do for you? said they couldn't align due to bad LCA Bushings, tie rods. Had front end inpsected at two other shops, they only noticed excessive play around CV Shaft and Spindle.
3. Did they make you pay for any new parts necessary to do an alignment? no, but gave me a $1200 quote to replace said parts.
4. What is Monte Python?

3. No, wanted $500 to do above extra work that it didn't need.

You should report this behavior to Toyota Corporate.

1. Where did you take your rig? Toyota of Waldorf, Waldorf, MD

2. What did they do for you? Replaced bar, alignment, that's it.

3. Did they make you pay for any new parts necessary to do an alignment? Didn't even offer. I had given them HELL after they screwed up a couple of years ago doing a timing belt job.

4. What is your name/quest/average airspeed of an unlaiden swallow? (monte python ftw!) TNRabbit/constantly in search of the twin-breasted split-tail/depends on what she's swallowing...__________________

1. Russel Toyota, Catonsville MD.
2. Rod and alignment was done. Checked ball joints bc there was a TSB on them, but they didn't need replacing. Had them flush the trans, diffs, etc at the same time.
3. Quoted me for a timing belt replacement, but didn't get it done.
4. I fart in your general direction.

When I drove my 4runner home after the recall, I noticed the steering stuck when I turned right, they told me I needed to replace idler arm and stabilizer. I replaced the idler arm, still did'nt fix it. I took it back and they told me I need to replace the stabilizer. My dad and service mngr went back and forth for several minutes about how it was operating perfect before I took it in and why steering was sticking when I drove it home, they offered to pay labor a meesly 35$ and I paid $166 for stabilizer.

This would have been avoided if toyota used the quality rod in the first place.

Took forever to have it done, and when i got it back the tech had aligned it with the steering wheel off center, so I ended up having to bring it back the next week. They billed toyota for 3.7 hours of work for the initial recall, and did the realignment for free. all in all it was in the shop for about 8 hours, even though i called ahead both times to make an appointment. When i got it back there was bead lubricant on the tires like they had all been unmounted, and mounted. Not really sure why the tires were removed to do an alignment, but because I didnt notice any issues I'll let it go.

I had heard good things about this dealer before, but after my experience I wont be taking it back there

I am new and just started finding out about his recall. What is it and what does it do? Also, what are the signs of it? I have a creaking sound that is really bad when i crank it hard left, but not when i crank it hard right. Thanks for any help you guys can give.

that noise is from one of your steering stop bumpers falling off. When you turn hard right, and that tire articulates, metal on metal ends up grinding against each other with a lot of force making that noise. Just throw some grease on the stop. And itll stop making hideous noises at full lock.

1. Prescott Arizona, Tim's Toyota
2. Alignment was done
3. No additional parts were necessary

The technician did fail to properly re-bolt the steering stabilizer, and it came off while i was driving (man was that fun). They replaced the stabilizer (which had a dent in it from when it popped off) free of charge when i put up a stink.
