If you are going to do all that extra wiring with the cig lighter, and extra switches, just go straight to the door pin. There is only one wire on it. You can pull the pin out and tap into the wire, then put it right back in.
That part at least is very simple.

woahhh, wait now! This is a whole new ball game, door pin? Would that be the white switch that goes out when the door is open and closed with the door closed? Or where do I find that. Sorry to seem like such a n00b lol just dont want to screw up

That's the pin I was talking about...the one wire thingo that actually makes contact with the door.

That is why I wasn't sure what you ment by connectors etc, I was talking about the actual source.

Yes it gets shoved in when the door closes. Probably in the front near the kick panel.

but from what milehigheric said and from what I think I know that actually doesnt have power but it creates a ground and that lets the lights come on. Or am I wrong does this thingo have power is it the answer to all my questions. AH THE WONDERFUL DOOR SWITCH! or am I just wishfully thinking?

All the info you need has been covered...Look at the diagram, it can't get anymore simpler. Positive goes to somewhere hot ( i suggest the CIG lighter but up to you). The ground is split into 2...one goes to the door switch the other goes through a toggle switch and then to its own ground.

Okay thanks. I really appreciate it. Its more just I think I have it then someone else suggests something new. Now the door switch, is that the pin or what? thats my last question. But other than that I really appreciate all of this. Once again Yotatech has saved me!

The door switch is a pin...When it is pushed in there is no contact, no ground, no lights (door shut). When extended (door open) it grounds turning the light on. It has one wire coming from it (the one you need to tap) which runs to the dome light.

Okay, I tried it and I am not 100% sure and before I go and cut wires i want to be sure. So if I get this I have three wires from the light I bought they are Grille lights from Autozone. One I am going to wire into my 12v power which I am using my cig lighter, then i am going to wire one to the door pin which will be my ground, then to the rocker switch I will wire from the cig lighter to the rocker switch and connect with a spade connector, then I will wire to a ground or I can ground it to the body. But when I wire it I want to place the rocker splice inline with the 12v power off the light so I can turn it on and off whenever I want. UGH I AM SO CONFUSED Where am I going wrong?

You are going wrong with your rocker/toggle switch. In this circuit your lights have an always hot connection, that is they are always (well when ACC and IGG are on) connected to 12V power (your cig lighter). You turn the lights on and off via a GROUND not a positive feed. The door pin will act as one of your switches..that is when the doors are open the lights will ground and they will come on. Your rocker switch should not be + ive switched. The switch only works as an overide so that when the door is shut (and not getting a ground from the door switch) you can flick your toggle which will ground and complete the circuit. If i havn't made it clear the toggle or rocker switch needs to be grounded and then to the ground on the light.

Okay, so then on the rocker switch's I have a little led bulb that wont come on when it is a ground will it? The doors dont have to have the lights come on when open. How would I go about it if I wanted the switch to be the only way to wire it. It seems that would be the easiest for me. So can I get a little diagram for just the switch?

Ya know, I bit the bullet and went ahead and did it! It looks great and is really simple if anyone has any questions id be more than happy to help! I will get pics up tonight! I have actually had it done but i just got around to this pics are coming tonight!
