2nd gen wiring issue>

I need a little help, I have a 90 4runner..when I got it; it had the stock stereo. All speakers worked fine. I had a couple 4 inch alpines I threw up front.. better than the stock. Everything worked great. Next, I threw in an alpine cd player. SUddenly the back two speakers dont work. I bought, what I thought was the correct convertor connector to hook it up. Everything else works great, I have power ant. It works. The front works.

I have a buddy who used to work at bext buy installing car stereos and said that back speakers might have an amp somewhere that the connector kit messed up? I dont think thats the case, but anyone thrown in an aftermarket cd player and had and speaker issues? Know what im talking about?

All speakers worked fine before the head unit change. Thanks.

When I pulled my factory rear speakers out of my 91, I found that they were in plastic enclosures of their own, each with a built in amplifier. Personally, I'd pull the rear panels (about an hour's job) and see. If they are, dump them and put in a good set of speakers, with new wire to them. You'll be a lot happier.
