2nd gen roof off

Been wanting to cut off the roof on my 1990 4R, only the top part of the roof (maybe keep/weld a cross bars for the kids to hang on to while standing on the back seat while we drive through sand washes). I want to keep doors, rear gate etc all intact. I just want the roof off.
Does anyone have a lead on how to install a soft top? Specifically how to attach it to the truck so it doesn't leak etc? I can't seem to find anything googleing around. Thanks

You will have to build everything yourself.
Build bed rails, build frame for soft top, cut and sew soft top, fit, re-sew, scream, give up, park truck, get gasoline and matches, you know the rest.

Ah! Yea could turn out that way. Maybe a "universal" sliding ragtop might do instead.

This is what i visualized when i read your post. Something like the canvas roofs on old european cars. Looking forward to your posts.
