Went to the dealership a while back and the guy said there was a note from 1998 (!!!!!!) saying my 4Runner needed shocks replaced. They never did it, but I had OEM shocks when I took them off last year. Cool thing was, that 3/4 of the shocks were stick alright- not great, but still had some resistance. The fourth, well, not so much.

olharleyman that scoot is beautiful!! I always did like the old HD's just never could get around to owning one. After finally getting my endorsement a few years ago and riding the crap out of a 91 nighthawk (yeah I know) that I wasn't worried about scratching when I dump it (not if, when) I've just about got enough saved up for that Yamaha Raider. No offense to the HD crowd but I can't wrap my mind around dropping 30K on a dresser.

That 55 is one bad son of a gun though.

well, as for the vintage iron in boxes that we got, theres no way that i would ride those... even tho they would be begging, i dont wanna dump a bunch of money into them just to dump one in the driveway... lol.. i know how to ride dirtbikes, but i wouldnt put pieces of history in danger like that...

whats cool is taht my grandpa is fixing up a 1956 ford stepside pickup, and when its done, he wants to do the bikes and take the whole lot to car shows... bikes in the back, of course...

I want a 55 for the same reason I think it would be cool to have my 55 in the bed of the (only ford worth owning) same year pick up and I love the look of the 53-56 ford trucks. I am still looking for one to rebuild for street shows.

Now the question is, what 2nd battery should I get. It cannot be over $150, so don't even suggest a Optima Yellow Top.

Here's what I've heard:

Don't get a deep cycle, as you would have to drive many hours a day to come close to ever recharging it. The alternator cannot recharge a deep cycle properly.

Don't get a second starter battery, as you'll kill quickly by draining it down too far.

So which do I do (remember, no Yellow Top).

Here's where I got my info from:

I know its out of your $$ range at $179 CDN but have a look at Canadian tires "Orbital Cycle Extreme-Duty Battery" - same concept as the yellow top- deep cycle and starting- spiral wound sealed design. I contemplated it myself but ended up picking up a regular starting battery. I think this would be a good option as they say it charges "faster" than a conventional battery.

On a side note ....I noticed in some of your posts you mention fishing...
