22re Water Pump

I was replacing the water pump the other day on my 1991 22re and overtorqued and snapped 2 of the studs that go into the block and you screw a nut on. Can't seem to find the size or a diagram anywhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I replaced my '89 22RE water pump a few weeks ago. I salvaged the studs from the old pump fan hub. I am pretty sure that they are same size as the 3 studs for the pump housing to timing cover. You can remove the non-failed stud with two nuts and check the size. I won't torque a stud in place. Snug is good enough. Even finger tight. The torque on those screws and nuts is not very much. Most DIY'rs tend to overtorque fasteners. If you want to do it right, get a 1/4" drive beam-type torque wrench and check the factory torque spec. I usually use the TFAR method on stuff like water pumps. ("That feels about right")

Thanks a lot, hope this works. I do have a few salvage parts from my old motor, didn't even cross my mind until now. Thanks again!
