22re trouble code #31 problem

I have a 22re in my 89 4x4 and i am getting the code #31 popping up. It says it is a air flow meter or vaccum signal switch. How can i test to find the problem?

Read the FSM on the sticky for troubleshooting direction. Remember that the signals are pretty general, and you may just have a leaky vaccum hose or a loose connection to the units called out by the code.
