Hello I am a proud new owner of 2 TOYOTA trucks i have a 86 TOYOTA SR5 WITH A 22RE 5 SPEED that runs good. My second truck is a 95 TOYOTA 4X4 AUTOMATIC 22RE that was my step dads old truck that is now mine. My question is can i put the 86 motor into the 95 4x4. FIRST OFF WILL THAT FIT ONTO MY 95 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. SECOND QUESTION IS WHAT DO I DO ABOUT THE ECU WIRING HARNESS WILL THE 95 HARNESS, WITH 4X4 WORK WITH THE 86 22RE OR DO I NEED TO SWAP THEM I AM NOT SURE.

IF ANY ONE CAN HELP ME WITH THIS SITUATION THAT WOULD BE AWESOME AND IF YOU HAVE ANY OTHER TIPS THAT WOULD HELP ME WITH THIS SWAP PLEASE LET ME KNOW. !!!!THANK YOU!!!!!

1st: Yes, your 86 22RE engine will bolt up to the 95 22RE transmission.
2nd: If you move everything external to the engine block and head from the 95 22re to the 86 22re, the 86 engine should work fine in the 95. Strip everyting off the 86 engine and bolt everything from the 95 engine to it, including the intake and exhaust manifolds, oil pump pickup (sump) and oil pan, (the 86 was 2wd- 2wd and 4wd 22re's have different oil pans and oil pump pickup / sumps). PAIR system, EGR, all should transfer over from the 95 engine to the 86 engine.

It's not exactly that simple, but....
