I am getting a new engine in my truck soon and I planned on replacing the fuel filter (or having my mechanic do it during the swap anyway). I was wondering if anyone knows where a write up is or could tell me what parts I'd need to relocate the filter for easier future replacement. I seem to remember reading one a few years back but I can't locate it for the life of me. Thanks in advance.

 

its near the oil filter

 

go in through the passenger side tire pannel.. its to the right and just below the oil filer... its a b*tch to get at.. and i havent changed mine ever because i cant get my chubby hands in there... im waiting for a 1 inch body lift

 

I know where it is and how much of pain in the ass it is but I would like to move it's location to the firewall or the passenger side fender so it's not under the intake manifold anymore. I want it to be REALLY easy next time I change it.

 

yeah this is what you do get a new fuel filter,,,, take it to carquest and get the fittings for it and the male fittings for the lines then get some steal brake line and you can bend and what not flair the ends and put it anywhere you like only about 10 in parts well 30 with the filter

 

You don't even have to do that. The injection side will reach out then all you have to do it run rubber line from the steel line to the filter and use injection clamps. There is not much pressure in these systems.

So I'm fixed on doing this to my truck...but I unbolted it first...from the bracket...and I can't get the connectors off the fuel filter in order to replace the one that is one there...should I just bolt it back up and try from there I think that would cause more problems and would be harder just because everything is in the way...well the starter is pissing me off big time. Wish I had a impact gun for this.

 

With 2 17mm wrenches you should be able to break the fittings loose with it unbolted.

I just installed the new filter after dropping 2 the crush washers never to be found again.

Then zipped tied it to the AC line works fine I have been told the Coil bracket works fine also to hold the filter.

 

I am going to subscribe to this so I will post up/pics when I do it.

 

Trust me the impact gun works. look @ pawn shops or go to homedepot and buy their husky air tool set.
