22re engine removal?

22re engine removal?

Ive got the engine torn down to the cylinders, got me an engine hoist, but how do i go about lifting it out? like do i use a strap or a chain and is there somewhere i want to lift it from or what?

If the head is off already, then one way you can do it is put two head bolts through the engine hoist chain links and screw them back in just so they are snug. I chose one from the front and one from the rear and at opposite corners from each other.

My buddy in the photo is holding the head bolts while guiding it out. I had stripped alot off except the clutch, crank, oil pan and engine mounts (very light) when I did this. I also had all new oem head bolts to use for assembly so wasn't worried about damaging the bolts.

lol when i did mine i used a chainfall and an old seatbelt... be creative... safe but creative!
