22re engine noise

Hi everyone,
Thanks in advance for any wise words you may have. I have an 89 4x4 pu, with a 22re motor in it. Turning over 300k km's pretty soon so it's just getting warmed up. Recently the engine has developed a 'muffled popping' (for lack of a better description) noise under acceleration. In the past it hasn't been continuous, but recently it has become a steady sound. I know this is a pretty fluffy description, but can't think of a better way to describe it.
It doesn't go through a ton of oil, but does burn it, the coolant is fine, I haven't noticed a significant loss of power... what else... Oh, I'm not particularly mechanically inclined but can figure most things out so I guess I'll start there and see what you wise souls have to say.
Thanks.

When was the last time you did a tune up? Plugs, wires, filters etc. etc...

Post a video!

Popping like popcorn?
Popping like tire pop?
Popping like I just popped you in the face?

Bet it's misfiring. Let's see some pictures of your spark plugs.

Awesome, thanks for the responses!

Misfiring might be the best way to describe it. I can't remember when I changed the plugs and wires, but it wasn't that long ago. Maybe 12,000 km's ago. Air filter was changed pretty recently, oil changes (fairly) regularly.
I'll have a look at the plugs and see if I can try to be more informative...
Thanks for the clever deductions!
