I dont think 22r's have an ECU or computer. If they do, it wont work with a 22re.

22rec is the california emission friendly 22re

Some computers are marked "22r" they're 22re units.
Some CA 22Rs had emissions control computers, but they're different.

I've got two computers that I used for the connector for my megasquirt project. If you can solder, all you need to do is put a stock connector back on their... I'd mail the boards for about $2 + shipping.

Stock 22RE ECUs can be had cheap... like $25 or so. There are two types as far as I can tell - those setup for 2 connectors and those setup for 3... May be a 2wd vs 4wd thing.,

I sent you an email.
Post a photo of your ECU.
Is it a 2-connector or 3-connector ECU?

Hello all, I too am having a dilema on the computer for my 85 4runner I have the 22re efi engine and my computer is bad. I have searched long and hard about what computer belongs in my truck. The previous owner thought he was a mechanic and tried to fix the truck, but really only made it worse. The computer that is on the truck right now is a 22r with three plugs. I was wondering if this is infact the computer that belongs in the truck. I went to a local used part store and they wanted 110 dollars for the computer so I rather make sure I get right one.

Thank you for all your help and excuse my noobness I have never own a toyota before.

EDIT: Sorry for bringing up an old thread.
