22r emissions

Hi guys wondering if I should delete my air pump and the egr stuff. What do you think? Have you done it? It is it worth it?

Neither one will give you any gains in HP. Egr will keep your intake cleaner.

Actually the EGR makes a big mess in the intake. It does reduce emissions. On a 22r motor, I suggest go with a Weber and I did remove my EGR on it and that makes the 22r motor so much easier to work on and don't have to deal with all of the check engine lights that come with the EFI. Just not much to go wrong on a 22r motor with EGR delete and a Weber.

I used to be an EGR hater but now I make sure they are working on a fuel injected motor. Personally I think it is one of the reasons these motor do last so long. It actually makes the motor run cooler by entering hot gases into the combustion chamber when causes a cooler explosion thus reducing the heat. Just my opinion. Look at motors without EGR and they did not tend to last as long.

Anywhere the hot exhaust fumes come into contact with cooler air, most likely there is going to be a clog there. It takes several thousand miles for the build up to accumulate and once you learn how to get the intake off and clean it out, it is not so bad to deal with. Just one of the things that you have to deal with in more modern motors.

I have read where some say they get more power by blocking it off. I wonder if they gave the system a good cleaning and feel they just had more power. I haven't been able to tell with a EGR blocked or not with my experience.
