20r made into a 22re help

I got a 79 model motor an put it in my 89 an made it a re an it run fine for a while now you can be driving an it will start loseing power an kinda spitting an sputter an you can floor it an it will take jus a second it will clear up an take off an then it will do it again. An it will run fine for a while an then it will do it again. It gets old . Today I got in it an got to the end of my road an took off an its missing bad . Any ideas plz help


Will a 86 yota computer work in my 89

have you tried the basics like a tune up and check to see if everything is plugged in first thing i would check is the fuel filters

Yes all new plugs wires cab button fuel filter an head gasket an timing chain

I got the motor out of a 86 22r 2 wheel drive an I put a head gasket an timing chain an the 86 model head gasket was nothin like the one I took off of the motor an the parts store went plum back to a 79 before it looked like my gasket

parts store is full of s***.
More then likely you are using a laser block engine from 85-95. Not 84 back.

There's a write on marlin's forum. Knock sensor or lack of a boss for it was the problem.

I did the check engine lite an it flashed 5 - 2
