i know this has probably been done to death, but my searching hasn't come up with anything. I need to replace the left side CV joint on my 1994 4x4 pickup. i've never done anything this involved before, and as such am hesitant to start taking stuff apart. i am mechanically inclined and comfortable with tools though. does anyone have a step by step write up for replacing a CV joint, preferably with pictures? how tough a job is it? my haynes manual strikes out once again, as there's no mention of CV joints in it. i'd like to have a go at doing it myself.

my mechanic wants $320 ish bucks, parts and labour included to do it. i'd rather do it myself and learn, but if i need to buy some special tools and stuff, it might not be worth it. what do you guys think? fly at 'er, or let the pro do it?
