1991 Toyota Pickup Payload
I wanted to know if anyone knew this spec. I've looked all over the internet but couldn't really find anything. Basically, I need to haul gravel in the bed of the pickup and wanted to know if it was alright to load it up with "1 ton" of gravel.
The truck is a single cab, 4x4, automatic transmission, 4-cyl engine.

I did get together some calculations.
MSN autos says that the truck weighs 3360lbs, and the GVWR on the door jamb sticket says 5350lbs, which comes out to a difference of 1960lbs. Comes out to about one ton, although I assume that would include myself as well, at 180lbs. I guess I answered my own question in that "1 ton" of gravel shouldn't be too big a deal to haul with this truck.

it all depends just how far and what kind of country you live in. Now if your going across the yard different story
know it will handle very different and I don`t want to think about braking.
I load from 900 to 1200 pounds I don`t think I would load more on my truck.
try not to cook your transmission .

Truck definitely had some considerable "nosedive" while braking, but I don't know if it's because of the lack of weight on the front or if the rear drums aren't working correctly. I'll check them out once I unload the gravel.

I've briefly hauled maybe 2,000-2,200 lbs. in my '94 bed. She was slower for sure, but handled fine on pavement at 45 max.
Honestly, I wouldn't hesitate to put a ton in my truck if the haul was shortish and smooth. On the highway or a washboard gravel road to BF, AK? Nope.
