I am new to this forum but, not new to Toyota's nor working on vehicles but, this has me a bit worried. I am not very fluent with the inner workings of a transmission or the parts but, I changed the oil in my 91 Toyota Pickup with over 212k miles (odo doesn't work). While doing the oil change I heard a thud in the bottom plastic bucket I was using to catch the oil, I thought it was a squish washer or something. Today I dumped out the oil into my enclosed bucket I use to recycle the oil and found an odd shaped piece of metal with a small chunk missing from it. The transmission works as it should but, I changed the oil because it was making a whirring sound when it warms up and I knew it had a leak up by the shifter that I had already repaired. I would rather not have to tear into the transmission if I can to figure out what this is from or if it will cause catastrophic failure in the near future. Any info is greatly appreciated.
