1990 V6 5 Speed considering buying for $2000

Hi guys. This 4Runner has 207,000 and despite being a 1990 there is no record of HG repair. The vehicle is def due for a timing belt because there is a no sticker in the engine bay that it was done. Runs good and has no frame rust... only rust i can find is on the rear bumper caps.

I'm in Boston so this a rare find out here since all these trucks rusted a way years ago... the truck spent most of its life in California. Is it a good deal at $2000? a good condition 3rd Gen or 4th gen is much more and i would have to travel. I have a 2013 FR-S as my summer daily so I can afford to have downtime if it does end up needing the HG...but i would want to get it sorted out before winter.

Also the truck is on 31s with good tread (including spare) and has the cool and rare swing-out tire holder. All windows roll up/ down but need to be lubed/ greased. (it was 15 degrees out during my test drive). Paint is also in very good condition and only one dent. Air Conditioning works too!

Is this a terrible idea? Main uses will be bad weather daily/ hauling stuff/ beach trips/ driving light trails/ at the beach

Bought my 1993 with more mileage, haven't regretted it.

Know what you're getting into, get the HG recall done if it hasn't been, and get it up to date on all maintenance and it will take care of you.

The dealers I've talked to and the corporate Toyota hotline both say it doesn't fall under the recall? Which i thought was strange... the tech at the dealer recommended I just do timing-belt and associated maintenance and a cooling system flush... is anyone still running an original head-gasket? I can tell the truck was loved by the original owner(s) based on the condition of the interior, the paint, and the engine bay. It seems like a runner.

Even the 3rd and 4th gen i have looked at up here have much more rust and the ones in my price range are all at or over 200k for those ones as well.

this one has no check engine lights, and 4WD (low and high range) works great
