1988 specific VSV vacuum & electrical routing
I have a 1988 4Runner with the 22RE engine, 5 speed, part time 4WD, no A/C. I do not know if this is a California truck or not. I got this truck about a week and a half ago with most of the mechanicals laying on the ground next to it. The 4Runner has been sitting for over 3 years.
Most of the routing of vacuum lines in my truck match diagrams for ’88 22RE’s. I’m having trouble figuring out the vacuum and electrical aspects of the VSV that’s on my truck that doesn’t seem to match any diagrams. The VSV on my truck (084600-4170) has 3 vacuum lines on it and vacuum diagrams that I’ve seen for my 1988 4Runner the VSV has only 2 vacuum lines on it. On ’88 vacuum diagrams the vacuum line going to the charcoal canister comes from the throttle body. On my truck the charcoal canister vacuum line goes from the canister to the VSV. The VSV on my truck has 2 wires going to a plug that aren’t connected to anything. I have the other half of the plug with wires cut too short to use but long enough to see their color codes (blue/red & blue/white). I’ve looked all over the area for an extra plug or cut wires that match and I can’t locate them. Does this VSV belong in my truck? Did someone in this truck’s past reroute the vacuum lines incorrectly?
I also posted a picture of the top of my engine where you’ll see 4 unused electrical plugs (brown, black, blue, and white). The white plug is coming off of the VSV. I’d like to know where those other 3 plugs go. Any help is appreciated.

The VSV on my truck is from an older Celica it seems. I need the part numbers for the VSV's for my truck. apparently there are 2 or 3 of them.
3 plugs sitting unused on my valve cover... I tried to determine what they're for through a wiring schematic but no luck. The black plug has a white/green and a white red wire. The blue plug has a black yellow and a black wire. The brown plug has ablue/red and a black wire. Anyone have a 1988 with a manual trans and a 22RE?
