1988 3.0 oil leak

I am in the process of replacing the valve cover gaskets on my 1988 3.0. The truck is new to me and the leak was bad. I was surprised to see the valve cover gaskets were in pretty good shape. My question is this. How often do the cam plugs on the back of the head leak? Is this something I should address while i am in there? If so, how do these get serviced? Do you just remove them, clean them, cover with rtv and put them back? Or do these need to be replaced w new when servicing?
Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks
Jon
