I have A 1987 Toyota Pickup W/ 22r Carb The problem im having is the ac compressor only comes on if i run direct power to it.... so was thinking it was the cycling switch???? May need help on this one!

 

Is there refrigerant in the system?

 

yes its full of free on it blows cold once the the compressor is ran by direct power

 

The 1st thing to check is the low pressure switch located on the evap coil in your cab behind the glove box. Unplug the switch and jump the connector with a piece of wire. Turn your system on and see if your compressor stays on. Be careful not to jump the temperature switch. The switch is placed on the liquid line of the system, if there is no refrigerant (or very low) the switch keeps the compressor from coming on to keep it from burning up.
