ok I have searched through the forum but no answer to my question.
I am putting an alternator back in the truck cause it was bad now I found the harness it plugs into the reg. and the ring connector goes to the side post. and then I noticed a black wire coming out of the harness about 4 inches up (also with a ring connector) toward the firewall it didn't appear to be hooked up before.
it is not charging, the alternator is good so where does this wire go, to the side post as well or to ground?
pics would be nice.

i think so does it connect up with the harness?
if so yes it is the wire and I see it is hooked to ground

 

Yeah its on the harness going to the Alt.

one last thing I really like your truck my uncle had one just like that he bought brand new from the dealer in olympia.
and we went everywhere in that thing.
