I bought a motor from a guy who said it came out of a 1984 celica but didn't know it was a double roller, when i got home and took of the valve cover to my surprise double roller..cool.. I thought the 20r was the only one that came from the factory with a double roller???

Opinion...they are stronger, dont have to change them as often, I just had my motor rebuilt, but when I have to change it again, I will be going this route instead of stock!

no, early 22rs were dual row. Don't remember what year they switched.. like '83 or something.

Only the first year the 22r was introduced to the pickup had the double-row...
only 81 22r's. The 82-83 early 22r's were single row.

Any autoparts store can offer you the double-row kit. Its only 100 bucks... worth it I say. You need the metal chain guides and tensioner anyway.
