What tranny is this?

what is this?

Owner says its a 4 speed for an 85 that he doesnt own anymore.. Looks like a w56.. Could it be a W46?

If it is a 5 speed and actually from a 85 it would be a W56A transmission, might try to shift through gears, willing to bet it's a 5 speed

Definitely a W56. It's an early style with top shift transfer case. Marlin calls this a W56-A or W56-B.

I was thinkin W56 but this is an hour plus away from me and the seller isn't knowledgeable when it comes to the numbers 4 and 5. I'm gonna pull the trigger, thanks all!!
