This is the worst section of rust on the truck. It's the drivers side rear section of the rocker panel. The rear section of the frame where the bumper bolts on has some rust but it's still very solid and can easily be saved. The knuckels are leaking but I think that's pretty common. I recently put Lucas in the diffs and the leaking has almost stopped. I think a new gasket and a little brake clean would clean it up real nice.

Ouch!

I hear out your way nice rust free 85's are easy to find. Here in the northeast, they're either in bone yards torn apart or the frames are rusted to nothing.

They are easy to come by but they also bring a pretty penny.. I wouldnt expect to pay less then about 4 grand for a nice 85.. Even 86-89's bring good money, thats why i swooped on my 900 4 runner, old dude really didnt know what it was worth, to him it was just an old 4runner that ran good.. Ive since been offered 3300 for it but ill be holding onto it for an daily driver as everything works, even the AC blow nice and cold..

I think mine is in good shape. I mean, it has a little rust and a few leaks here and there but it runs great, looks good and it hasn't been beat up off road. I'm planning on listing it in the local auto locator for $4,000 o.b.o. this week. If anyone on this forum wants it, I'll let it go for the $3,200.

Thanks for all the input guys.

I changed my mind.. I just listed it on craigslist for $4,500. You guys know what I'll take for it. Maybe I'll get lucky.

I don't get it... In Az, his truck would fetch 4k without the rust. Apparently, 85 runners must be abundant in PA? I don't get why they sell for so cheap, unless rust really plays a big factor as far as resale goes.

I stole mine for under 3k and it's a 100% rust free Az truck.
