I have an '85 Toyota 4x4 22RE that I bought a couple months ago and have driven about 3k miles. It's got a rebuilt motor with less than 10k miles on it. Lately it's been showing some of the typical HG failure signs: White or grey smoke and drops of water in the exhaust when cold but not hot, coolant sort of bubbling under the radiator cap when it's cold. But it still runs great, hasn't lost any power, doesn't overheat, and the oil looks fine.
The thing is, I'm supposed to leave on a long road trip in a week and don't want to end up stranded.
I'd really appreciate it if someone could suggest a good shop to check it out or if anyone would be willing to help me out with it this weekend. I usually do all my own work, but I don't have any time after the weekend and need to be sure it's done right if I'm gonna take it on this trip.
