Hi, i searched and didnt find anything good.

Few years ago i was searching for an electric locking rear diff, didnt find one,...

Id like to find something not too expensive to fit in there to help traction.

What can be fitted in there ?
What requires modifications and what is bolt-on.
Truck is a pick-up long bed, 4x4 with 22rec automatic.

I heard about detroit locker fitted in there, is it a bolt on ?

If you get a full differential already installed with a locker, it is a one hour job(To install the diff)
If not, anything changes having to do with gears in the diff is going to require modifications(i.e. Gear set up or welding, Min).

The cheapest and easiest locker is going to be a Lincoln lock(weld the spider gears).

A limited slip is cheaper and better for on road, but still a few hundred,

Getting a Toyota E-Locker is going to be, in my opinion, the best locker and close to the most expensive. Any time you ad a locker, you are going to need to have the gears set up(at least mostly set up). You may be able to leave the pinion and move the ring from your open carrier to your locker and just set back lash.? (I haven't set up my locker yet, so I'm not for sure how intensive it is going to be)

 

I have an Aussie Locker in mine and like it. Do a search and you will probably find more info than you care to read. The gist.. about $260, install yourself with basic mechanical skills in about a day or less, and it comes with good instructions. It's an auto locker so you'll have to get used to it on the road but the cheapness and ease of install was the clincher for me. I've wheeled it hard and DD'd it about 14K miles and still working great.

 

If it's DD don't weld(or Lincoln Lock) the gears, or you'll be sorry.
I'd recommend the Detroit Locker.
