Toyota Dolphin Rear axle swap / HELP!!!
I need some advice from you smart folk, I've got this 1984 Toyota dolphin its got 77,000 miles on it and runs like a top. I've put quite a bit of work into the interior , the rear end started making some noise ( howling , whisteling) got it on a life and figured out that the pinion bearing and drive pinion aren't doing so hot . this is the recalled 5 lug dually axle. I know they swapped them for the 6 lug one ton. the problem is I can't find that axle. I'm driving this thing from Ohio to Utah with a Dirtbike on the back in about a month and trying to get it figured out.
from what I've read its not worth rebuilding this axle. Is there any single axle that would work out for it or do I have to stick to a dual axle ?
Any help or ideas greatly appreciated , also the budget isn't huge.

Im pretty sure they use a 4cyl 8in 4x4 3rd member. 84 is pre V6 so im sure its not a V6 third. Not sure what gear. Just check the paint dab on the pinion. Im heading up to Dover Ohio this friday. I have a good 4.10 ring and pinion its just the carrier is trashed.

There was a funky pre v6 third that had a longer stud or 2.
I believe toy 8" was the diff used. If it were, I would upgrade to the 87-95 v6 diff. Direct bolt in, other than the driveshaft flange would need to be swapped over.
Can you take a picture of the diff?
