so my truck has a broken guide like every toyota nad i should replace it before it eats through the wall. Just wonderin if anyone has anyhting to say about the beck arnley ones that i can pick up at the parts store( i dont have the money to get ones from LCE) also should i just replace all 3 or just open it up and see what one is broke and change that?

 

the beck arnley should be fine.

since your gonna be that far into it, i would suggest getting a whole kit, not just replacing the guides.

Yeah if the guides are gone it's time for a chain, seems like to me. Engnbldr.com does have them for cheap. I guess if you're seriously broke, changing out the guides only is cool, as long as you look at it as a temporary fix.

 

ok so just put it on the list that i need to do the chain sooner rather then later. chain worries me about doing it myself. i dont wanna screw stuff up. the guides just bolt in so im not as worried

 

were can you buy just the metal guides my truck has a new chain

 

i found them at autozone for about 20 bucks per guide. im pretty sure they are metal they say there heavy duty so assume thats metal

Did you check to see that they're metal? I know engnbldr.com has them, and LCEngineering, maybe one or two other places, but I've never heard of anything good coming from autozone. Heavy duty means that the manufacturer wants you to think they're heavy duty, and absolutely nothing more. If you get guides from Toyota, they are plastic. You kind of have to search out the metal guides. Heavy duty does not necessarily mean metal.
