thermoplastic clamps

Would like feedback from anyone who has tried the Gates thermoplastic clamps on their engine coolant hoses. Problems, likes, dislikes, etc. Thanks

i use them where i work for big trucks they work pretty good gates makes good stuff
problem is if you have to take the hose off again for some stupid reason like alternator then you have to cut the clamp

THX for info tyler 1990. That was what I wondered about--what if I had to remove the clamp/replace on road trip? Looks like a hassle. Do you use a heat gun at your work to install thermoplastic clamps? If that is the only way to make them seal, can't see how that could be done on the trail. Guess I'll stick with metal!

you can get away with using say a mini torch or even a lighter if your really desperate they seal really good and get tighter even after you clamp them on due to heat i recall only seeing one at work leak as opposed to the metal ones leaking a little more. if you do end up using them and have to take one off control how deep you cut or youll cut the hose lol cut in steps they have a special cutter for them but its not truly necessary

I like the looks and price of the plastic but was wondering how they could be replaced without heat gun. Using a torch/lighter sound tricky--is it obvious when the clamp shrinks or is it too easy to set them on fire like other plastic!? LOL! Cutting off clamp also sounds tricky--is the plactic clamp hard or easily cut with sharp knife?
Thanks for info Tyler 1990!
