talk about gears

im thinking of getting a 1985 4runner 22re, 5 speed front solid axel how good are the diffs for that year

diffs are the same as your rear diff a standard toyota 8 inch..

i would think 4.10 would be the standard size... there all strong it depends how big of tire and if its stick or manual.. you can swap front and rear diff thats the nice part of a straight axle toyota

They are both 4.10's. From what I understand you'll probably break a birf before the gears. As far as compared to a dana or something else I can't say. I've never owned anything but Toyotas. Hope that helps.
