Starting issue

I have a 1985 4x4 Toyota p/u with a 5 speed 22r with a webber carb. i just put in the new 22r and new battery and new starter. Problem is i try to turn the motor over and it sounds like the starter is not getting the power it should to turn the motor over fast enough. a very slow slow crank. not near enough to start the motor. anyone have any ideas as to what it could be?

Check your ground cables. I would start with the main from your battery to the chassis. Clean up the contact or replace and see what happens. I had the same issue and that did the trick.

Figured it out..... The ground cable from sylonoid to block was mounted to the motor mount bolts. Kinda hard to pass electricity through rubber... : /
Got it started and beautifully timed. Runs like a champ! Time to get a snorkal kit for the carb and hit some trails.
