single or double timing chain?

I want to run a double timing chain in my 85 22r motor. I'm building a fresh motor to put in my crawler and want to know if i can just get away with buying a double roller chain and guides or do i also have to change the timing cover. I know LC engineering has a new timing cover in there conversion kit but i don't see what the diference between the two covers would be.

The older engines have taller blocks and 2 extra links on the chain. Since the older 22Rs have taller blocks, the timing covers are also taller. For '85 and up you will need a conversion kit. If you want something cheaper than LC Engineering but still decent, check out engnbldr's steel guide timing chain kit on either ebay or his website at www.engnbldr.com. It is only single row, but it has a steel driver's side guide.
