if you have any bodyman friends then now is the time to find out what kind of beer is his favorite lol. sectioning a roof is not easy like fixing a dent. but it not to hard either be sure that the junk yard gives you as much of the A and B pillar as posable you might need it seeing as you put her on her side. it might help if your local frame shop would let you look the 84 runner measuring guide so that you can make sure you get it all square and plum good luck body work is always a whoot

the friend that is helping me out is in a body shop class right now, so we are getting advice from the teacher..

I got the roof, sunroof is broken so I need to find a replacement for that..

All four pillars were cut far a few inches below where they meet the frame.

Going to start work on the project on Tuesday

This is the first night, class is only a few hours long so we pulled the glass and the fenders.. pulling the glass was a pain in the ass

going to pull the dash this weekend, and have it ready for measurements and cutting on Tuesday!

I just got done doing this. It was pretty fun. The thin metal is a little hard to weld, but just go slow and let it cool. Don't forget the center nut when taking out the dash.

I bet that will hold up swell in a rollover....

There is actually a correct way to section a roof, but I don't think cutting it that far into the pillars is it. Make sure you add some gusseting for strength.

Btw, nice MR2 seats

Actually where we cut the pillars its some of the are is only 1 layer of sheet metal, above that it was double or tripple.

We have a body shop teacher making sure we are doing it right..

MR2 seats came with the truck... need to get some seat covers

I cut mine in the same spot on the front pillars. For the rear I cut right at the bottom line of were the vent goes. When you get it welded back together you might be surprised at how strong it really is. I used some metal "patches" if you will, for the inside of the front pillers just to give it some extra strength.

The rear pillar has a lot of good metal to weld to. If you are wondering how your going to line the back pillars up, use the black plastic grill that snaps into the holes on the rear pillar

Ya if you use the bolt holes in the roof to line up with the top it will help out a lot.
