Which rims and tires....again.

I have an 85' solid axle pickup and I am unsure which rims and tires combo I can get away with. Searching pulled up a bunch of newer IFS answers. I'm going to buy 15x8 rims that have 4inches of backspacing and was hoping to put 35x12.5x15 size tires. Is it possible without rubbing? I have a 4 inch. suspension lift only.

hey, I have a 85 reg cab, solid front axle myself with 3" body lift, I deal with wheels and tires for a living, and I have 15 x 10's and have used 35 x 14.5 on them with a little rubbing, but opped for 33 x 11.50 thornbirds, or 33 x 12.5 will work fine, only possible rubbing would be on the little lip on fenderwell at door, no biggy though. 35 x 12.5 on a 8" wheel is a strech but lots of people do it.

When I went to have my 325/60 15's (basically 31x12.50 15's) mounted on my 15x8's, Discount Tire wouldn't mount them. They said I needed at least a 8.5" rim for them to do it. So, instead of spending $70 to have 4 tire off and 4 tires on w/ balancing - the only place I could find to do it was Sears Auto Center and they charged me $140 to do the job that Discount said would be $70;

My point is that I would double and triple check places to see if they would even mount a 12 1/2" tire on a 8" rim.

I'm sure you will rub the bottom rear corners of you front fenders and also the rears will hit on the frame on the inside of the tire when flexed. I would go with a 2 or 2.5 inch BS. I thought 2 inch BS was going to look funny because the wheels stuck out so far but I love it now! If our going to 35's you should widden your stance.

3.75 is what I went with and they are a bit too far in for me. I'll probably get some wheel spacers. I can't find rims with less than 3.75 inches of backspacing. Doesn't matter though...I love the ones I have now.
