at random i can be driving around im my 84 pickup 22r carb'd and it will start acting like its going to stall. if i push the clutch in and let it get down to an idle speed itll start and i can drive a bit further, then it will start happening again. it will do that about 2-4 times then itll be fine for a little while until it decides it wants to happen again....randomly. so frustrating. some days it wont happen and other days it will more than the usual.. one day it even died on me twice. its getting fuel, so its something else in the carb im sure i just dont know what i havent been able to find much help on the usually oh so helpful google.

any and all help will be much appreciated. id like to know what it is asap cause i have a drive from va to pa coming up on tuesday for school.

has anyone ever had this problem and maybe know what exactly is going on? im sure its the carb but i dont wanna fork out the money for a new one if theres a solution that wont cost that much

 

Sounds like a sticky float. Mine starting acting up like described above and i had the carb completely rebuilt and it runs fine now. You can get to the float pretty easy without taking too much off just be careful.

 

Thanks a lot man. I'll have to get it done when I come down on a break.. Couldn't figure anything out myself and now I'm moving to Pennsylvania for school tomorrow and will have to leave it at my parents house in Virginia. But thanks for the reply, you probably just saved me the heart ache in the ol' wallet for a new carb.
