question on 5 lug tranny options

question on 5 lug tranny options

Hey im new here and i have a 85 2wd 5 lug single cab with thee 22r and i have the manual 4 speed and i was wondering if anyone knew if you could put a 5 speed manual tranny in it and what you would have to go through to do it if its even possible. Thanks for any help guys.

Sorry I don't know much about 2wd but I would assume that it would just bolt up. Come on "yotatechers" let's give this guy some help!

The 5 speed trans will bolt in, but its a little longer than the 4 speed trans, so you will need to have the drive shaft shortened a little.

Ya thats what i was assuming but wasnt too sure i know of a few places in my area that will shorten a drive shaft im sure and if not i think they will know of a place and the tranny mount would be a easy fab up if it wasnt a straight bolt up. Ya the 4 speed is ok but i do alot of driving and the 5 speed would help out just a lil with mpg i think. Thanks alot you guys.
