Question Pre loading Toyota strait axle knuckle bearings

Any body know how to use one of those pull scales that Marlin sells to preload knuckle bearings? I rebuilt an '84 strait axle for my sas. My problem is that when going down the road my front tires have a pretty exteme wobble. Iv'e checked my wheel bearings numerous times, every thing seems fine there. I realized that I used the old shims for the bearing cap on the bottoms and the steering arms. I think that might be the problem. I bought one of those pull scales from MarlinCrawler but I'm not sure how to use it. Any body out there ever had this problem before or know how to fix the wobble?

Just get a fish scale, hook it to the steering arm, and pull. Should be like 12 lbs if I remember correctly. Oh yeah, do it w/o tie rod connected to arm.

On a SAS there could be a lot of factors causing your wobble, since you made a lot of major changes.

Make sure eveything is tight. I had the same problem and all it was was the ubolts. They lossened up and eveything went to hell. Also check your camber. They say that will give you the wobble too. Also, if you dont already have one, put a steering Stabilizer on there. That should get rid of your smaller wobbles from your tires.

Might have the alignment checked, also. SAS could give you incorrect caster, which can be corrected with shims. Exteme cases may need "cut and turn".
