possible coolant temp problem

is the coolant temp sensor that goes right after the thermostat the one that sends info to the ecu? If so then I think I may have found part of my power problem. Oh yeah, 85 22re. The wire going to the connector got so bad that it actually broke away from the connector and was just there.

Thats it, and it can cause performance problems if its not hooked up. The one on my 4Runner was broken when i got and the previous owner rigged it back together, i went to pic n pull and found the corect plug and fixed it right.
