Oops. Lots of new info while I was typing, making much of my post moot.

We'll see. I've got the time and the parts to build my own, I've found a few down south that are pretty nice. If I go the "DIY" route again, 1.5 to 1.7K is all the more I'm willing to spend. So rust free, it has to be. Meaning I've gotta take a drive. I agree, picking up a new rig is a vacation...a very tiring, gas guzzling vacation. It would have been a nice rig though, absolutely love that Two tone.
Allow myself, to quote myself..

Hey BLKNBLU,

I really appreciate that post. It's pretty much the same conclusion I came to today. I figure I can pick up an IFS for around 1700 tops. Put about 4500 into it (minus front axle and tires/wheels) already got those. And have exactly what I'm looking for. Locked, dual cased, protected, crossovered, and mine. 100% known like the back of my hand. Money can't buy the familiarity and knowlege that go's hand and hand with building your own rig.

Considering it had options only offered for one year, it is kind of a "Holy Grail". Not saying you couldn't build something better and owners definitely put a sentimental value to them.

Sounds like that guy sold that thing pretty quick. Do you know how much he got for it Hurricane?

Here is a possible for you.

Last time I looked at this ad the photo album was not available. I have recently met this fellow and he is a good guy. I have not seen the truck yet, but I must say, after seeing the photo album, calling the interior "a bit rough" is being pretty generous. Also, no EFI is a drawback. On the other hand, you can expect that here in AZ. No rust but destroyed interior parts. Good luck.

As a collector's piece I would agree, but then you would probably want to go back to as stock as possible.

Looks to be a solid rig. But it needs a load of TLC. The price is right however. If I bought a rig like this. I have 1 solid month of time to get it completely ready for next years Crawl 4 The Cure weekend in July. That month of time comes each winter when I get laid off. "guaranteed almost" Do you think everything this rig needs could be done in that amount of time? I'd rather focus on drivetrain, suspension modifications than updating the interior...dunno. It's a nice rig for sure.

Well unfortunately, as I mentioned I have not seen the rig yet personally, so my info is limited. My understanding is that it is solid mechanically so driveline/susp shouldn't have too many surprises if any. The interior is pretty self explanatory IMO. I wasn't sure how important that was to you, but you mentioned transporting a child so....

If you are interested let me know and I'll try to get you two guys connected.

Mike

Hey Mike, I'm interested. The interior isn't that important to me at this point. I wasn't however planning on ripping EVERYTHING out. Not a big deal though. Runners can still be found in Junk Yards up here, I'm sure I can find the interior bits it needs somewhere.

Are you going to take a look at it? If you do, I'd be very interested in hearing your impressions if you know what I mean. I thought things didn't rust down there???

If you could get me his information or give him mine that'd be fantastic. I would need someone to go look at it for me though. I have a guy who go's down there to pick up cars almost 3 times a month. So he'd be picking it up and handing out the CASH

Mike

Jeez. I didn't run through the whole album, just the interior stuff. We do get some rust here and there but usually light surface stuff that should sand right off. And usually just the undercarriage or bare stuff. I let you know after I look at it. Going to PM with this.

Hey, sorry I didn't see this sooner. I'd say at the very least he got 6K out of it. I underestimated it's immaculate condition. It is basically a surviving relic that has been stored indoors since he bought it 10 years ago. He has a few other 85 pick ups and runners. All with under 90K on them!
