The rear bumper is a Smittybuilt/Rally? I think they are pretty common on ebay and aftermarket supply sites. I plan to install a Stout rear bumper. The same goes for the Westin side-step bars in favor for some rock sliders from All-Pro or Marlin Crawler. For now they will stay until the frame issue is fixed. Then I will prob sell 'em cheap.

 

Who shows up today, but my favorite person...the UPS guy. I got the new seats in, and now I have to wait for the mounting brackets. When everything gets here I will document the installation on a new thread.

Thanks, I have been thinking about fiberglass. I think it would help offset the center of gravity being higher when I install a full cage. I am searching some different threads to get some info on people who have used it.

yeah i thought about replaceing my bed with fiber glass but then i realized it would cost as much as i paid for the truck, so now im just gonna patch the rusty spots.

Thanks, it will probably be a little while before I decide on new body panels, I may just sawzall the wheel wells. I hope to know in the next few days the shop price on frame repair.

Oh- And I am STILL waiting on my seat mounting backets!!!

 

if you find anybody that makes aftermarket frames let me know. i trie e-mailing matkins extreme but they never replied. and my frame has already been repaired by the previous owner and now it needs more work. good thing i just got a welder, but bad thing i dont know how to use it yet.

 

It really looks like the frame rust is in a critical spot so have someone with more experience do the work. If it's not done right that spring hanger's going straight through that rust. & Not to sound like a jerk, but would you tear into your house foundation if you didn't know how to fix it?? Same deal IMO, fix it right the first time & never worry about it again.....

Sweet looking Runner!! & at least it's CHEVY powered, unlike some I've seen with F-O-R-D crap.... haha!! Speaking of which, if you wanted to really decrease that body lift even more than you mentioned, that air cleaner could be swapped out for a lot shorter one. K&N now has a round air cleaner lid too, so you could get more of a ram air effect out of that hood....just an idea....

 

POR-15 would be the best bet for some of the rust, but in critical areas i would replace the metal and reinforce it, then coat it in POR-15

 

Thanks, and I am not going to attempt the frame repair, I will have a shop do it. I think I can drop the body lift down to 2" without too much trouble, I need to fix the rust in the floor panels to make it all solid again. I like the idea about the air cleaner, I think something is in order, will kick around a few ideas.

make sure lowering the BL won't affect the clearance of the motor

 

there will be some clearance issues with the radiator to deal with, and when the frame is fixed it will get a coat of POR-15.

 

Been kind of busy, & still waiting for my mounting brackets...
I decided after grinding down some of the fenders to to take the sawzall to the rear fenders tomorrow. Knowing this truck is going to be wheeled, I am not going to put a lot of money into body work right now.






I set one of the new seats in to see how it would look...now where is the UPS guy with my brackets?...
