???? dual steering stablizers that connect to nothing????

 

What lights are those you have mounted on the front end? I like em.

Also, I have those same wheels on my '88, but when I bought it it didn't come with a spare. I wanted to buy a rim that I could use for a spare, and I ended up finding a match on eBay, but I had to buy a pair. So basically I have an extra rim that you could buy to use as a spare that would match your other 4 rims. Let me know if you are interested.

It is 15" by 10" and 6 lug obviously.

Yeah... I still need to remove them... I have to take off the u-bolt's to remove the stablizers and I'm gonna get a u-bolt flid kit so I'll take it off when I do it. I do laugh at myself and say "that is ghetto as hell" everytime I see it.

 

The lights a some hella's I bout for like $60 (?) at advance... They came with the relays and a switch to wire them up... I like 'em... And I already have a spare but thanks anyway...


I do need the fuse box under the hood that is on the passenger fender well... The wonderful PO liked to run all sorts of wires and it shorted and melted the fuses into the box... I planned on re-wiring the truck this spring... but it miht start earlier.

Okay… Time for another up-date… I’m still playing in the wonderful world of “lets fix everything the PO managed to F-up”…

The wiring under hood was scary to say the least. I have known it was bad but the other day I got a first hand look at the horror of a hack-job by the PO. It came to me in the form of what was pretty much a melt-down of the under hood fuse box. After scoring a used box from a buddy I decided I needed to address A LOT of other things…. So off we go!!!


First order of business was to secure the new Yellow Top Optima I just got… At $160 I sure was not going to trust the Bungee Cord that the PO was using to hold down his Wal-mart special…


First order of business… Dis-connect the battery and remove it…


The OE battery tray was a busted-up rusted out piece of crap that had to come out… a cut off wheel and grinder made quick work of it…



And yes I ground it down smooth. I just forgot to get a pic of it.

Up next It drilled 4 5/16th holes and mounted the new tray that I got from Auto Zone. I thing it was like 5 bucks…


After snugging that down I set the battery in place and put the clamps on it. I really like these kind because they stretch over they battery and really hold it tight.


I snugged down the wing nuts and cut the extra off the bolts and the battery was in it’s new home!

 

After installing the battery I decided I would move onto starting to re-wire some of the truck. It seems that when something electrical went bad the PO just re-wired it (poorly) instead of fixing it… Case in point the horn… there is a external switch on the dash that hooks up to the most obnoxious AHOOOGA horn you have ever heard… That was the first to get the axe. I replaced it with a universal horn I picked up from the Zone.



I needed a way to get the power to all my accesorcy that did not involve pinching a wire in the terminals of the battery. I found this gem at Boat US… It was $40 but well worth the $$$... It is made by Blue Sea… I have used there stuff in the past on boats and always liked the quality. And since it is designed for the harsh salt-water environment I have no worries about it under my hood.



The block has one heavy gauge power-in and 12 fused power outs… It is Great for cleaning up under the hood.

I decided to mount it here just behind the stock fuse box… I like the idea of it being close to the battery and it will keep all the electrical stuff close together.


Mounting was easy… drill four holes and hook up the wires. Man it was nice to clean it all up.


I like the cover… while it is not water-proof I think it will keep a lot of the crap off.


Well it is all together… Still some straighten up to do but I’m on the right track…


Oh… and here is some of the crap that I removed.

 

It's removed when I go wheeling. I drive the truck hunting and the extra control is nice.
