Meet Roland, a parting gift from a great friend, who has moved on to new adventures in a new realm.
Roland worked hard and needs some upgrades
I'll add more pictures as I get them transferred from my computer. Looking forward to learning as I go on
Roland is an 85 LWB 4wd pickup, roaming the interior doing chores and is kinda the commuter (although he's not happy with all the pavement time lately)
Work to date:
Rattle can paint job at the spa- temporary(?)
new fuel pump- had to temp install and electric to drive him up onto the trailer- nothing that would fit in town
different camper shell (used, but new to Roland)
leaf spring refurbishment (until funds allowed new springs), rode like a beet truck after that
Skyjackers on all 4 corners
2 alternators- drowned the first one
rebuilt long block, oil consumption was getting out of hand- think mosquito fogger, and power (it is a 22R, but..) was going downhill- low compression, etc...
Weber 32/36 carb
Offenhauser intake- didn't survive the removal attempt-a couple of the bolt hole tabs/flanges (?) broke during removal
Trail gear Rock Ripper header - stock manifold cracked during the drowning event
new exhaust from LCE I think - can't remember the brand right now
Used front bumper from parts rig
New OME leaf springs on all 4 corners=3" lift or so with Ironman grease able shackles, Rough Country shim blocks- to regain the rake, 16" rims with 235/86 16 Toyos- well used, from the Tacoma
Rancho shocks coming soon
fuel pressure regulator- Weber carbs like low pressure I discover.
Installed some HID lights so that means GM alternator upgrade this year
Unplanned tasks- replace ignition switch
These are of Roland getting a facial at the spa, about 3 months after being trailered up the AlCan.
Post rattle can camo- some of it didn't last the winter- primer time.. Hanging out at the cabin after hauling some fuel barrels
Roland post spring work out at the lake, on the way back home, hanging out with the big kids. Refurbished the springs with some leftover AALs from a parts rig Heading out to work the week after the landslide a couple weeks before
Opening up, first shift of the summer, another reason Roland got a new engine. Roland hates towing like any other Toyota Doing chores- hauling water -35 gallons and fuel -25 gallons tools- 250# of tools and groceries after a winter's hibernation. Testing out the new springs Unloading
