making extended front driveshafts with marlins extended yoke

truck has 5 inch trail gear front kit and high steer.so now i need a longer driveshaft.

i know i could go square but id rather make a round shaft from the old shaft with marlins extended yoke. from what im getting i should be able to make a straight cut to cut the existing slip yoke off and simply weld the extended yoke on. i have a 220v mig welder and i can lay a decent bead, do you think that given the facts that i can weld pretty good and its cut straight. that it would work and be strong enough? ive seen people make square ones that seemed to have crappier welds than ive done and they claimed they worked. i just dont want the whole damned thing to snap off. do you think i would need to get it ballanced afterwards. im thinking it would be better to but may not be completely nescessary. ive kicked around a square shaft idea but id rather not have the excess vibration and wear on the drivetrain. any input is welcome and if anybody has pictures of their custom shafts lets see em.

Personally...I would do it.....not many rocks to be crawling over in Florida. Your front axle's only engaged off road going fairly slow so I don't see why you would need it balanced.
Or you could take it to a driveshaft specialist and have it done for <$100 if your not confident in your ability

i feel confident making my own but i may just order the one from trail gear, they are supposed to be working on a complete extended front shaft from what chris dunbar says. if its too priced ill stick to the idea of some dom tubing and new slip yoke. i was just wanting to see some pics.

there are a few rocks here in fl , you just have to look harder. i mostly ride trails and go camping and thats why im building this rig..
