So can't seem to figure this out. But both of the doors on my 84 pickup unlock when you close the door(if locked by hand while exiting the vehicle). So the only way to fully lock the truck is to use the key.

Any ideas

 

Lift the handle while closing the door. All old imports do this.

^-Usually the (Pre-1990) Trucks and 4runners with power door locks are like this.

Its the way Toyota designed it from the factory. You will get used to it .

 

My 88 with power windows doesn't do that, but my buddies 86 without power windows does... Seems like some just do, and some don't. lol
