Looking for advice on 1985 prices?

I am currently looking at a 85, no power steering, 4x4, some rust but relatively minimal, 22r engine 5 speed 126,000 miles, interior is fair but not great. The guy who's selling it is asking $1995 for the truck is that a fair price based on the info, or should I offer him less? My other question is whether or not that truck could pull two yz250 dirtbikes weighing about 250lbs full and a three rail trailer from Denver, CO to Moab, UT and back? One more thing could I put a 22re engine in that truck? Thanks all for any input you can offer.

got any pics? are you located in CO, i'm not sure about pricing there but money always talks. i think you can just add fuel injection and that is the same as 22RE. the size of the tires would make the difference if you can pull anything. i have 32's and i don't think it can pull itself down the freeway. but depending on the tongue weight i think you could. pricing is higher then one might think on 84-85's if its clean but if the drive train is in good shape maybe 1500 cash.

I think that's a fair price. I paid $900 for mine (EFI) but that was with bad auto trans. I've seen them going as high as $4K and as low as $850 (w/o motor).

Good price if miles are true. I have 217k on original 22r and still purrin down the road. No problem on the towing, as long as you don't mind taking it slower.

I'll flat out admit that I paid too much for my 85. Why? Because it was exactly the truck I wanted, and I wasn't about to find another one any time soon. They don't turn up too often around here (New Mexico, 100% rust free). It was dented on every panel, burned oil like mad, and had crap tires. So, while "it" may have not been worth it, it was totally worth it. I'll get my deals elsewhere.
