Im working on converting my old tail lights on my 1985 Toyota pickup to a much simpler led light bar with turn/brake/run and backup lights all in the same bar. I bought a conversion harness to convert the Toyota wiring to the standard 4 wire plug for the led light bar. However after I hooked it all up the correct way everything works fine except my turn signals only work when my running lights are on. My front turn signals all work correctly however the LED light bar only does turn signals correctly when the running light is on???

I can not figure out when the problem is?? if I try the turn signal when the running lights are not on, it tries to blink for a split second then nothing happens!!

Has anyone tried this mod before ? or has anyone run into similar issues??

 

You need to locate and supply the schematic/diagram of this conversion harness.

 

you bought a converter harness.
did the harness come with the converter itself? it is usually a separate box...

 

this, you got a conversion harness, but no trailer light converter. You need to go into the towing section at autozone, buy a converter. it will turn your separated brake/tail turn, into brake, turn tail. It will be a 5 or 6 wire to 4 wire.
